Winstar Game Guide
Every once in a while, a new video slot game becomes an instant classic because it doesn't rely on pop culture trends to engage players.
Winstar is one such game.
Many veteran slot players consider it to be a timeless game that depends only on pure, unfettered slot play to create an awesome experience. It's hard to describe Winstar's theme. Why? You'll understand when you first play. It is sort of a cross between outer space and a brightly coloured Las Vegas marquee, with just a hint of futuristic sci-fi thrown in for good measure.
Winstar's graphic presentation offers a 5 x 3-reel configuration consisting of symbols seemingly floating on a transparent panel over the top of a deep purple background. Each of the symbols glows impressively, as well. Symbols include your typical playing card symbols from 10 through to Ace, along with stars of different colours and a special bonus symbol explained below.
Playing the Game
One of the strengths of Winstar is its simplicity of play. There is nothing complicated here. For example, there are only ten paylines to work with. All are in play on every spin. That means all you need to do prior to spinning is decide how much you want to bet.
Below the reels, you should see a small window labelled 'Total Bet'. The number in this window represents the total amount you want to wager across all ten paylines. That total amount is divided by 10 to determine how much is bet per individual line.
After establishing your total bet, you can spin the reels either automatically or manually. The two buttons you need are on the far right of the screen. The yellow 'Auto Play' button is the one you will click for automatic spinning. You will be able to choose your parameters before spinning commences. As for manual spinning, just click the green 'Spin' button to set the reels in motion for a single spin.
Two bonus features make Winstar exciting to play. The first is the Winstar feature; it takes advantage of the game's one and only Bonus symbol. That's right; there are no Scatters or Wilds. There is only the spinning Winstar symbol that always appears stacked. When you do land the symbols, all of them in the stack will spin for a time before being transformed into like symbols across all three reel positions.
Since the Winstar feature is in play on every spin, you always have an opportunity to win extra prizes if the symbols spin and transform in just the right way. Spinning Winstar symbol do not guarantee wins, but they do increase your chances of winning whenever they appear.
The second bonus feature is a Progressive Jackpot just waiting to be won. The current value of the jackpot is displayed above the reels. How do you win it?
By landing the right symbols.
All the symbols in Winstar can appear with or without a gold border. The gold border is what you need to win the Progressive Jackpot. If all the symbols landed on a given spin have the gold border then you win, regardless of whether any other winning combinations appear. Simply put, the gold border is the jackpot winner.
Winstar has been a video slot favourite ever since its first release. It is one of those games that developed an almost cult-like following so quickly that it took people by surprise. If you play this game, you already know why.
