Game of the Week: Vikings Go to Hell

Game of the Week: Vikings Go to Hell

Yggdrasil Gaming's third title in the fantastic 'Vikings' series is the latest pick as our Game of the Week. If you have played the Vikings games, you shouldn't be surprised by our decision to feature Vikings Go to Hell. This is one series of games that hasn't been diminished with each subsequent title, it just keeps getting better and better.

Play Vikings Go To Hell

Vikings Go to Hell carries on the original theme but with an interesting twist: instead of doing battle with sea monsters, the intrepid Vikings go face-to-face with wicked demons from hell. They are leaving the familiar environment of the ocean to ascend into the depths of Hades. Along the way, they face the same life-or-death battles that ultimately determine how much you win or lose.

This game has a decidedly darker theme, both in visuals and intent. The bright blue sky and rolling sea have been replaced by a dark, rocky landscape that we assume represents the netherworld. On a more positive note, all of the characters and coins representing the game's symbols have undergone significant upgrades. Even the control panel underneath the reels looks a lot different.

Vikings Go to Hell Bonus Features

Our Games of the Week have to have good bonus features in order to qualify. Vikings Go to Hell has three of them, beginning with a Free Spins bonus. Just like in the previous two games of the series, this bonus includes a scenario in which the Viking characters battle a demon whenever one of their symbols falls. It generally takes multiple battles for a character to win, but when that happens, the associated symbol remains as a sticky wild for the rest of the free spins.

The Free Spins bonus is a multilevel feature. By defeating the demon on one level, you will be descending into the next level to face a new demon. The further you descend, the more valuable the prizes get. As for the other two bonus features, they are as follows:

1. Treasure Chests

This is one of the most popular features in the Vikings series. It was introduced in the first game, before being brought back for the second game with some slight changes. It has been modified yet again for Vikings Go to Hell. This time, the Treasure Chests can appear on reels 4 and 5, but game designers have added tablets to the chests. The prize you win when the Treasure Chests feature is active depends on the tablet inside the chest you choose. You can win extra free spins, additional rage points, and more coins.

2. Viking Rage

The Viking Rage feature returns in Vikings Go to Hell. It has been updated in a couple of ways, the first of which is the fact that meters are now on the left side of the screen rather than the bottom. Rage is also based on accumulating points rather than filling up a graphical meter. Everything else about the Viking Rage feature remains the same in this game. Building Rage makes the Viking characters tougher during the Free Spins round, and it triggers additional free spins in Berserk mode when a character's rage is full.

Playing Vikings Go to Hell

Vikings Go to Hell plays with a 5 x 4-reel configuration and 25 fixed paylines. Players determine how much they want to bet by adjusting coin value; one coin is bet on each of the 25 paylines. It’s pretty simple.

At the centre of the control panel is the 'Spin' button, which is what you click to initiate a single spin based on your current coin value and total wager. The button just to the right is the 'Autoplay' button; click this to initiate automatic spinning. Note that you will have an opportunity to choose the number of automatic spins you want.

To the left of the 'Spin' button is the 'Max Bet' button. This will place the maximum allowable wager on each of the 25 paylines and initiate a single spin. The maximum wager here is 125 credits, which equals five credits per payline. The credits are represented in your currency of choice.

Vikings Go to Hell Summary

Fans of the Vikings series will understand why Vikings Go to Hell qualifies as our Game of the Week. This series is one of the most popular from Yggdrasil Gaming. It has even developed its own following of sorts. Vikings Go to Hell continues the tradition established by the first two games but in more grand fashion.

There is no way for us to know if Vikings Go to Hell will be the final iteration of the band of Vikings that we have all come to know and appreciate. Hopefully it's not. But while we wait for that answer, Vikings Go to Hell is definitely a video slot worth playing. Don’t forget, we’ve got plenty of epic slots for our players to enjoy, with over 300 titles in our collection.
