The play area consists of 5 reels with three positions each, supported by 20 fixed paylines for every spin. All you need to do to play is decide on your bet and coin levels. Along the bottom of the screen is a display that shows you what you need to know to determine how much you're actually wagering.
The large button at the very centre of the control panel is the 'Spin' button. Underneath it is the 'Max Bet' button, which is used to place the maximum wager across all 20 paylines.
As you might expect, Gonzo's Quest plays with both Wild and Bonus symbols. These extra symbols increase your winning potential by helping you create additional winning combinations and triggering the game's bonus features.
Gonzo's Quest Bonus Play
Before we explain those features, however, you should know that there are no traditional spinning reels in this game. Instead, symbols fall from the top of the screen. So rather than 'spins', you have a 'falls'.
The first bonus feature in Gonzo's Quest is known as the Avalanche feature. It is active for every fall, and here's how it works: Every time a fall creates at least one winning combination, the symbols involved in that combination disappear after being evaluated and paid. All the symbols above then fall to fill in the empty space, followed by additional symbols falling in from the top of the screen. The reels will be evaluated for any new winning combinations at that point. The process just keeps going until no more winning combinations are landed.
The second bonus feature is known as Free Falls. It is this game's equivalent of a free spins bonus. Triggering it is a matter of landing three or more Bonus symbols in consecutive positions on any payline. The bonus game starts with ten free falls and multipliers that increase as the avalanche function is triggered. Additional free falls can also be won during bonus play.
